Summary

The “Love Life” project has started from the idea that lack of self-esteem seems to be one of the most seriuos issues nowadays. It is not only a personal problem, it affects other people also. Research has shown that global self-esteem is correlated with juvenile delinquency, academic performance, and psychological depression. So the six partners involved in this project - Croatia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom- decided to base it on activities to stress the importance of all components of wellbeing for a healthy and fulfilling life, namely physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social wellbeing using an attractive and engagingway. As an increasing number of students are struggling through school and life in general, it is paramount that we provide them with the necessary competences and resilience skills to cope in life and develop an overall wellness.
So at the end of the two year project the participants in the project should become aware of the importance of emotional intelligence, becoming qualified to empathize with other people- to adjust emotionally, to be able to reflect and express one's own development of emotional intelligence and to recognize emotional intelligence as a central common educational goal.
The age group we selected to address the project to is regarded as high risk as far as troubles with self-acceptance are concerned: students who are 12-16 years old, both girls and boys. Children won't be the only ones involved in the project, we expect active participation also from school management, teachers of various subjects, students' families. In our opinion activating the potential of the whole school community will make Love Life more beneficial. In fact our project motto: "Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission." (Eleanor Roosevelt) summarizes the determination in the project to convince students that , young people can do a lot to be happy and fulfilled, despite the external circumstances they don't have much influence on. In this sense learning from each other and working on their social skills by working together, especially with students of other cultural background, will help them to get an open view on different cultures and they can learn from both the differences and the similarities. This will be another important step to become European citizens with an open view towards other countries.
A life full of self-esteem needs a good relationship and use of the new devices and technology . That’s why another essential aim of the project is to prepare our students for a digital future and we will use different ICT tools, making sure children have been thoroughly trained in internet safety and netiquette before the project starts. The ICT skills of both pupils and teachers will improve when innovative teaching methods will be encouraged in our schools. Moreover a variety of platforms and apps will be used to communicate amog teachers and students of the different partners, to work on the project, to show the results to the different communities towards a more European level.
This project will not be restricted to the school taking part in it but it aims to encourage other schools, as well as educational institutions, to be aware of the development of emotional intelligence in everyday education and not to understand it as an add-on or addition to the normal curriculum, but as an end-to-end teaching principle that can be used in most school subjects , Through the many projects and the open approach of the project, we want to make our joint work accessible to a broad public and documented by comprehensive documentation on an interactive level, but also by project-relevant media , the benefits of the project as an example of good practice become.
Our desire is to have a multiplier effect at the national level, too. contribute to the development of the training of emotional intelligence in national education systems. We are ready to invite other public education actors to our extracurricular programs. The project website, the methodological resource book and the guide to implementing these best practices will also be available at a wider level, ie. at national or international level. Finally, there can be a synergy between the objectives and activities of our educational project and the Europe for Citizens program, which contributes to the impact of the latter at European level. In fact priority is given to our dissemination in the school community, the municipality and the school districts. It is important to us that a maximum number of pupils, teachers and parents get impulses for their own work or social activity. It is essential that the project shows for many people that the European Union is taking very concrete and supportive measures, for example: by promoting our project to make our societies socially acceptable. By the end of EU funding, the results will be maintained through their long-term Internet presence and their input into our school work schedules. Furthermore, we want to create by numerous publications the conditions to be able to create your own Wikipedia article about the project. As part of the work of the coordinator as Erasmus moderator of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate,the project will be presented on his training and online training and also showed on in-house training how other schools will benefit from our project.
